The Penalty

Despite multiple replies and going down to classes, talking to students individually, and yet not getting assignments in my locker in time, I have decided to pass the law.

Assignments to be due last week and yet not handed in on last Friday will suffer penalties as follows:

1) All book reviews not in by Friday would have half the marks deducted, ie, if you get 7/10, I will only award you 3.5. This is calculated as 10% of CA marks. Since you don't bother about your CA marks, I don't bother giving you marks either.

2) All essays (zuo wen 作文 / ying yong wen 应用文) not in by Friday would get 1 mark deducted for each late day. Since I don't go to school on Saturday and Sunday, that would be 2 marks deducted. When I get your book on Monday, it is 3 days late and there will be 3 marks deducted. Again, this is part of your CA marks, zuo wen and ying yong wen will take up 40% of your CA marks.

It's all up to your discretion to get marks to throw marks away.

I have done my best in helping you guys to get marks. But if you don't treasure my efforts or even try your best to help yourself, I can't help you.

Your attitude towards your work reflects your attitude towards life.

I hope these people change for the better.

And for the rest who have dutifully handed in your work, thank you. I appreciate it much. You've made life much easier for yourself and me. (:

For repeated offenders, I will start contacting your parents from next week onwards.

Mid Year Exams are approaching. If you don't sense the urgency, let me urge you to start studying. Secondary 1s, it's your first time having around 8 subjects at a go. Please start revisions early.

If you wish to change for the better, you still have time, don't wait til the last minute and cry over spilt milk.

People who have missed the deadlines, there will be no concessions. Like I've always said, this is not the pasar malam, you don't get discounts.

Yesterday, after meeting up with my friends at MOF, I was walking home from the shopping centre. Just then, I heard a familiar voice shouting out to me, "lao shi!" I turned back and saw Kevin. I love this sort of impromptu meetings!

Of course, there are reasons for my joy.

Well, for one, let's talk about the impression Kevin left me. The first impression he gave me when during our lesson in the library. We were left stranded outside the class as it was locked and I had no other choice but to send them to the library where we chatted and shared stuff. Then I requested that they elect a male and female Chinese rep and the class started to push the responsibility to one another. Kevin volunteered upon seeing this situation, which surprised me pleasantly.

The reps didn't get much work to do coz I was often the one running errands. So Kevin didn't get to do his job as suggested. Anyhow, in class, he's often seen in the corner, doing his own things, not disturbing anyone, basically, very harmless and cool. As such, I am quite surprised that such a bo-chup and cool guy would take the first step to say 'hi'.

Next, I have to say, I came into teaching not because I love the job, but because I enjoy the interaction with teenagers. Sometimes things these teens say can make me laugh in amazement, cringe in detest or melt with compassion. As such, I'm happy to be able to interact with you guys even outside the classroom when you're no longer in your school uniform and I'm not your classroom teacher. At least, I'm not forgotten! Feels good ya?

So, next time when you see me, remember to say 'hi'! (:

Perfect Cut 2 has finished its run on Channel U. I love this serial and I think it's the best production by Channel U so far. I especially love season 1 because of the strong plot and characters. Probably I've higher expectations this time round so I find it tad boring at times or it has lost its initial impact after the first run?

No matter what, I still catch every episode every night for there's Thomas Ong!! Hehe... And I am awed by the script in the show. It's written really well and there're many classic lines!

Have you watched Perfect Cut?

Let's conduct a mini poll!

March Holiday Homework Final Post

Hi all,

Thanks for those who have handed up. Basically (especially to Niknoi, Jeremy, Ji An and Wee Kiat who asked), if I've not stated your names / struck through your name that was posted up earlier (I edited the post many times), you're safe.

I've made calls this afternoon, I hope it served its purpose to remind those who haven't finished their work! (: Anyway, I can't reach a number of you guys...

Those who have not handed in at 10.30pm:

1-3: Stanley (called, no response), Jacky (number not in use)

1-4: Wendy (Kai Shing said she would call Wendy)

2-2: Celia (called, no response), Damien (called, not at home)

2-7: Irene (number not in use), Desmond (unable to access to Eblaze)

Okay, I'm not sure what changes there will be in the next half hour (or less). Oh well, I'm glad most of you attempted the assignment. And to answer Desmond's question, it's 10 percent of Term 2's marks.

Hm, and I've no idea I've Mas Selamat and Michael Jackson visiting this blog. Boy, I'm rather famous too.

Hi Mas Selamat, I'm excited to hear from you, I believe you're no longer hiding in the woods...

Michael Jackson, my class sang your "Heal the World" when we were in Primary 6! And I found your CD lying around AVA room in school today. Awww... It seems that someone abandoned you. Double awwww... By the way, has your fake nose collapsed from the severely whitened face of yours? Beat it!

Replies to Tags and a Kind Reminder...

1-3 peeps: Hey all, hi everyone... I know you guys have a fun time playing here... so I don't wish to reply to everyone (and you guys are more like msn-ing each other here...). GAH.

Jiong Teck: Hello! (: It was your tag right? How's everything? I've added you on my msn too. (: But you know larh, I'm hardly online! Hehe...

Kevin: Hi Kevin... Sorry for the super late reply... Hm... Because of the same matters that you mentioned to me before? Hai... Don't have bad mood due to those matters... I assure you, things will be better if you control your temper a bit de. You're a great person, tell yourself that! Don't let anything disrupt your chance to learn ok? Jia you... Anything, drop me a message again! (:

Jazlyn: Hey dear, yup I'm at RSS. I don't teach Sec 4 but which class is your cousin in?

Sally: Don't so xiao qi la... Lao shi bao bao~~ Sayang~~~ ^_^

A kind reminder to all... I know my Sec 1-3 is very playful... But I hope not to get any more silly remarks on the topic again (you guys know what topic). For one, I can track all your IP addresses. So I am aware that some people are pretending to be your friends to bad mouth them. This is not acceptable. We are one class. We should be protecting each other and not tarnishing each other's reputations. Ok? 1-3, let's work together! We can have fun here but don't go overboard. Laoshi will be upset... :(

And please look at the post below. It's regarding March holiday homework!

If anyone has problems regarding March Holiday Homework, please do not hesitate to leave a message here. I will get back to you asap. Thank you!

March Holiday Homework

This is a VERY late post... I've been experiencing much problems with blogger, prompting me to clear my cache, delete my cookies and all. I hate FireFox 3. First it eats up half my bookmarks, now it disables my google account.

So I have to use Safari to sign in and remind EVERYONE to Start doing homework if you haven't....

I hope by now, most of you have done your homework as assigned by me. If not / if you want to see if you've finished everything... here's the list:

1-3: a) E Blaze
b) One book review
c) *Optional* You may give me an additional chinese journal when school reopens regarding interesting events over the holidays... And
d) You may also prepare for the ying yong wen that I will give you guys when school reopens. That would be on the Sec 1 cohort camp... Don't lose the copy of newspaper that I gave out earlier on because there's one essay on Lu Ying Ji written by a Nanyang Primary student.

1-4: a) E Blaze
b) One book review
c) *Optional* You may give me an additional chinese journal when school reopens regarding your holidays or more about yourself as I've yet to know most of you.

2-2: a) E Blaze
b) One book review
c) *Optional* You may give me an additional chinese journal when school reopens regarding your March holidays. Many of you have not been dutifully handing up your journals.
d) You may prepare your ying yong wen on Sec 2 adventure camp. Don't lose the newspaper I've given out earlier on because there's an essay on Lu Ying Ji.

2-7: a) E Blaze
b) One book review
c) *Optional* As per other classes, you guys can write me a chinese journal on any topic you may like.
d) You may prepare your ying yong wen resources based on your Sec 2 adventure camp too.

Heh and hi 3-3... though I'm not teaching you guys anymore... I hope you have been doing your homework!! (: I miss you guys~

Most of you may realise that your homework would be more or less the same. Yes darlings, they will be the same so worry not. Even so, Everyone should be doing their own piece of work w/o plagiarizing. Anyone caught copying from your friend would be penalised heavily - both the one who copied and the one who let your friend copy.

I'll be checking E Blaze soon and releasing the names of those who have not completed it. So if you don't want to become too 'popular', please complete your work SOON!

Thank you everyone!

And may all of you have a wonderful holiday!
